Noticed her own problem — reading is hard — researched it with her mom, and built a calm reading helper. Then made it grow levels so any kid can read with it too.

Reading is hard for me. Help me read.

Reading Stars

A calm reading helper: one line at a time, tap any word to hear it, and earn a star for every line you read.

Open the app
Growth she owns

She test-drives it, names the app for real, and tunes the reading level and voice to her — then we log how it helps her read on her own. The genuine-proof step, same as Emeka’s. And it grows: it ships with levels from Pre-K to Grade 3, so any builder can read with it.

  • She found her own problem and her own fix — a kid noticing herself, the first pillar walked alone
  • Built calm and focus-first by design — no timers, no “wrong,” gentle and quiet
  • Her star helps other kids too: four reading levels, Pre-K through Grade 3
How the thinking grew

The journey, step by step.

  1. Step 1The Spark

Swept her own day and landed on her real problem, on her own — reading is hard.

    Reading is hard for me.

  2. Step 2Listen

Interviewed her mom, who lives it with her. The real reason wasn’t reading itself — it was staying focused, and the help disappearing when Mom isn’t sitting right there.

    Help me read.

  3. Step 3Find the gap

She has a helper — Mom — but nothing helps her focus and read on her own. The build’s job: do part of what Mom does, when Mom isn’t there.

  4. Step 4Build

Three of her own ideas, combined: one line at a time (focus), tap a word to hear it (her “help me read”), and earn a star (the reason to keep going).

  5. Step 5Light it up

Live and calm: one sentence on screen, tap any word to hear it sounded out, “read it to me” that lights up each word, and a star for every line — filling her own night sky. Built for focus first.

    I can read it.

The Expedition Log

What this build taught Sandra.

The Thing

Reading wasn’t the wall — focus was. Show one line at a time and reward every line, and the hard thing becomes a game you can win.

The Tool

She described exactly what would help — one line, tap-to-hear, a star — and the build became exactly that. Clear noticing made the tool good.

The Thinking

Listen First — Listen First — she interviewed her mom and built from the real reason, not the obvious one.

Every expedition logs three things: one principle of the thing we built, one truth about the tool, and the thinking move we ran. How expeditions work →

The constellation grows

Every expedition lights another star. Sandra's next builds will land here — same page, growing sky.
